The Magnolia Hotel
The Magnolia Hotel was built in the early 1840s. The original two rooms were constructed by James Campbell with logs intended for a blockhouse on the public square.When warnings of a raid were sounded on July 4, 1855 the citizens of Seguin took refuge in the building.Two rooms of the hotel were later added using limecrete.In addition to the one-story structure, a two-story frame Greek Revival structure was added to the complex. It was in place on a 1902 map.Capt. John Coffee (Jack) Hays was married there in 1847.
